Lulu the Comfort Dog
Lulu's Spotlight
Lulu is a friendly, seven year old Chihuahua- Jack Russel mix, who joined our PS 506 family in 2017, through the NYC DOE Comfort dog program. Comfort Dogs offer our students support through the use of Animal Assisted Interventions. Lulu, who must undergo extensive training prior to participating in interventions, provides our students with a safe, welcoming environment and acts as a motivational tool, offering emotional stability and support. She socializes well with students and has become an asset as part of our school’s crisis intervention team. Lulu is also included in classroom lessons on social-emotional learning, resiliency, and human-animal interaction.
